But I am encouraged by your early reports of success. I'd rather pay $100 to Faststone for a native Mac version! And Parralel Desktop may require regular updates to keep working properly as the Mac OS changes. That is a very interesting solution, though $100 is not cheap for Parallel Desktop, especially considering that Faststone is inexpensive shareware.

Time will show if it had been a smart move, or not.

This solution comes at a cost, though, as Parallels is not free. Scrolling with the Magic Mouse is awkward - i wish it had a wheel. It seems everything is working normally and I have not encountered any problem so far. I Installed Parallels Desktop on my new MacBook Pro M2, then installed FastStone. Have you tried Preview? Admittedly it doesn't have the functionality of FastStone or iFanView (what I used to use), but you can make minor adjustments. This sounds like an option, though expensive, to use FastStone on a MacBook. Thank you! I appreciate your sharing your experience.ĭoes anyone have experience with Parallels Desktop for Mac, which allows you to run Windows side-by-side with your Mac OS? To tell you the truth, I have really been using DXO PhotoLab6 and Lightroom as a way of viewing images, and both of course have superb editing capacities.īut now that I am on a Mac, I very much miss the simplicity and power of the Faststone Image Viewer.īut now that I am on a Mac, I very much miss the simplicity and power of the Faststone Image Viewer. The Apple program Photos is something to be avoided because of how it ties up the storage of your images, plus it has very few features.įastRawViewer is simpler than PhotoMechanic, but again it offers fewer features than does Faststone. Neither of these are as good as Faststone for browsing, comparing, and culling images and they both lack the editing capacities and other image-handling features that made Faststone so very useful. Some less-than-sastisfactory replacements for Faststone are XnViewMP and IrFanview. I have written to them a couple of times to ask if they have any plans for a Mac version and have never gotten an answer.

The one thing I regret about moving from Windows to Mac is the loss of Faststone. I have asked this question in the forum before, and the answer really is that there is nothing like Faststone for the Mac. It's just not as convenient for the purpose as FastStone. I have Photo Mechanic installed on this new Mac, and can certainly use this app as a JPG viewer. Just added a MacBook Pro, and one of the immediate needs is to find a JPG viewer as convenient and useful as FastStone on Windows.
